Don’t Be Caught Off-Guard

By | May 22, 2021

Have you ever been caught off-guard when a problem occurs?  Shouldn’t everything go free and easy for Christians?  Don’t we wish!  But if we never had problems, we would never learn who is our healer, our comforter, our King.

I am never prepared for the world falling on my head, are you?  First thing I do is to grab the Bible and look up my favorite scriptures.  I read His promises over and over again.

I certainly have had to depend upon these promises in the last year.  Let me share what has happened.

Those personally acquainted with me know that I was scheduled to have knee replacement surgery around September 13th, 2020 — a simple knee replacement.   Everyone who knew anyone who had ever had one assured me I would probably go home the next day.  But not me…  After 2 weeks in the hospital, 3 blood transfusions and 1 platelet transfusion, I finally went home.

That was it, right? Again, not for me.   So far I have had 4 knee replacements, 2 debridement’s,  a possible staph infection, and a knee wound that didn’t seem to heal.

It was suggested by my surgeon that a ‘flap with blood supply included’ placed over the wound might cause this wound to complete healing. This would have been the final step to finally ending this ridiculous surgical mess.  I was so excited.

Then, SURPRISE! Again, not for me.  There is an infection in my knee and no flap can be placed until the infection is healed. That means a 3rd pic line, 6 to 8 more weeks of infusion, then another culture to test for results. THEN MAYBE, a flap can be performed.

Why would God allow this mess to happen?  I don’t know.  But I know there have been several occasions in my life when I have wondered about this.

What I do know from scripture is that Satan is always around, at any time, waiting to attack.  *1 Peter 5: 8    That’s why God warns us to be alert and watchful.  We never know what or when things are going to happen.

So what am I doing about this mess that’s happening to me.  I am confessing, confessing, confessing God’s promises He has given to me.

One surety I am standing on from the Word of God is that when Satan throws bad things at me, God will take the situation as I give it to Him and use it to my good. **Romans 8:28

My journey is not finished yet.  No matter what happens in the days ahead, I know God is in charge and knows what is best.  I don’t know why this is happening, but He does.  I am believing God is going to heal my knee.  I would appreciate your prayers also.  God knows right for me, even if I don’t understand.  So, God be praised!!!  Amen!!!

*1 Peter 5: 8

*8 Be serious! Be alert! Your adversary the Devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour.

Holman Christian Standard Bible

**Romans 8:28

We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.
